What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you?
You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God.
When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.
Or do you think Scripture says without reason that the spirit he caused to live in us envies intensely?
But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it.
There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you--who are you to judge your neighbor?
Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money."
Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that."
As it is, you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil.
Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.
雅各书第四章   雅 4:1-3> 明争暗斗,嫉妒生气,比较竞争──难道这就是现代信徒相处之道? 

  4:1-3 信徒互相争斗是极为不智的。雅各解释这些争斗是从人们心中的恶念而来:他们为求获得更多金钱、物质,为攀上更高地位,得到更多人赏识,不惜靠争斗来满足一己之欲。我们应该顺从神而放弃攫取我们想要的东西。求神帮助我们除掉自私的欲望,不再你争我夺,相信祂会把我们真正的所需赐给我们。 

  雅 4:2-3> 请你停下来,想想,记记,你平常祷告的内容是── 

  4:2-3 雅各提出了祈祷的普遍问题:不求、求不适当的东西和出于错误动机的祈求。你有没有与神交谈呢?交谈时,你会说些什么?你是否只为满足自己的欲望而祈求?在你所计划的事上,你会否寻求神的旨意?我们如果让神改变我们的欲望,使我们的愿望完全符合祂的旨意,我们的祷告便大有力量了(参约壹 3:21-22 )。 

  雅 4:3-4> 享受生活不可以吗?神究竟要我作什么? 

  4:3-4 期望过舒适生活并没有错,神赐给我们美好的事物可以享受(参弗 4:7 ;提前 4:4-5 ),我们可以安然享受神所赐的丰盛。与世俗为友是牺牲别人或放弃服从神来寻欢作乐;不讨神喜悦的欢乐是罪。 

  带有行动的信心 

  雅 4:4-6> 这是我配得的!“我心”对“我”说──除了你,还谁配──“我”附和着。只是,真的是这样? 

  4:4-6 医治邪恶欲念的良药就是谦卑(参箴 16:18-19 ;彼前 5:5-6 )。骄傲使人变得以自我为中心,以为自己配得一切,贪得无厌。在神面前谦卑下来,明白我们真正的需要是神的接纳,我们就可以从自我为中心的欲望中释放出来。圣灵充满我们时,便会知道世界一切吸引我们去追求的东西,与神所赐的相比,实在微不足道。 

  雅 4:7> 撒但无处不在!似乎没人逃得过它,哪,我的指望…… 

  4:7 虽然神与撒但正在争战,但我们无需等到结局,也可以知道谁胜谁负,神已经战胜撒但了(参启 12:10-12 )。当耶稣再来时,撒但与它所主张的一切将会永远被消灭(参启 20:10-15 ),不过今天撒但仍在世上,千方百计要引诱我们随它作恶。只要靠着圣灵的能力,我们就可以抵挡撒但,它也必会逃离我们而去。 

  4:7-10 雅各提出了五项建议,使我们可以亲近神:( 1 )服从神( 4:7 ),顺服神的权柄和旨意,把自己的生命交祂管理,并愿意跟从祂。( 2 )抵挡魔鬼( 4:7 ),不要让撒但怂恿引诱你。( 3 )洗净自己的手,清洁自己的心,过圣洁的生活( 4:8 ),使自己不被罪玷污,以神的完美无瑕,取代犯罪的欲念。( 4 )为自己的罪过悲哀、忧愁、痛哭( 4:9 ),不要怕为自己所犯的罪显出极大的伤痛。( 5 )在主面前谦卑,祂必将你提升( 4:10 ;参彼前 5:6 )。 

  雅 4:10> 世界都讲自信,我何要自卑?何用小看自己? 

  4:10 “自卑”的意思是承认自己的价值完全是来自神,谦卑包括听从祂的引导,倚靠祂的能力行事,而不是倚靠自己的努力。虽然我们有很多缺点,不配接受祂的恩典,但祂因爱我们而寻找我们,赐给我们价值与尊严。 

  雅 4:11-12> 我是谁?竟时常在论断人!我,我是谁?我竟…… 

  4:11-12 耶稣总括律法的总纲是爱神爱人(参太 22:37-40 ),保罗说爱人如己就完全满足了律法的要求(参罗 13:6-10 )。我们若不爱人,就是违背神的律法了。试省察你对别人的态度与行为,你是在建立还是拆毁他们呢?当你准备批评别人时,牢记这条爱的律法,说一些对他们有益的话。多说一些造就别人的话,就使你不再去挑剔别人的错处,也就更能遵行神的律法。 

  雅 4:13-16> “主若愿意”──细看我的历史,这四个字出现的次数竟…… 

  4:13-16 订立目标原是好的,但如果我们的计划中从来没有把神包括在内,那么我们的计划最后会叫我们失望,因为未来是掌握在神手中的。你的计划若未考虑神的存在,这计划就没有意义。你未来十年、一年或明天有什么打算呢?假若神要介入你的计划,替你重新安排,你会有什么反应呢?只管计划将来,但不要死抓住计划不放,如果你把神的心意作为计划的中心,祂必不会令你感到失望。 

  雅 4:14> 让我多等一些时候!我只做完这些就回应主……我(你?)有多少时候是这样说的? 

  4:14 无论我们活到多少岁,生命都是十分短暂的。不要自欺,以为自己还有许多时日可以为主而活、与所爱的人在一起,或是做你所知道你应该做的事。今天就为主而活吧!不管生命在何时结束,你都可以成就神在你身上的计划。 %5 

  雅 4:17> 平生不做坏事,只喜我行我素,雅各对这却有话说…… 

  4:17 我们常以为“行恶”是罪,但雅各告诉我们“不行善”也是罪。说谎固然是罪,但知道真相而不说出来也是罪;诽谤他人是罪,但你若知道那人需要你关心而你却逃避他也是罪。我们应该顺着圣灵的引领,乐意帮助人。当神指示我们要去行善、服事人或与别人和好时,就照做吧!你的属灵生命就会得着更新和振奋。──《灵修版圣经注释》
